Don’t know if you saw this yesterday. A coach for the Jets intentionally stuck out his leg and tripped a player. The last time I saw anything like this I was a kid and Woody Hayes threw an upper cut to a players chin. What a great picture of what the Devil does in people’s lives (for the record I’m not saying this guy is the Devil). He loves to trip people up. The difference between the Devil and this coach is that the coach was remorseful. On the other hand, the Devil throws a party whenever someone gets tripped up.
This is exactly what I talked about on Sunday. If you missed the message you can listen to it here. In 1 Samuel 30 we see a great picture of redemption. David and his men come back to their camp to find everyone and everything gone. So, they go after the band of raiders, attack them, and bring back everyone and everything. That’s what God did for you and I when He sent Jesus to rescue us. And God is calling us to do the same.
Today we are kicking off the 12 Days of Christmas Prayer. I want to invite you to join us as we pray for family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers that are far from God. 12 minutes a day for the next 12 days leading up to our Connection Christmas service on Dec. 24th. Over 180 names have been submitted for prayer so far. Of the 180 names 27 were submitted by children. Wow! We’ve also developed a special study guide that provides scripture and prayers for the 12 days. You can view or download the guide here. If you have a name you would like to submit for prayer let me know.
