Connection Church sponsors a Child Development Center in Zambia. The Project Reach Team visited the center this past summer and had an opportunity to work with the children. These children live in extreme poverty. The CDC provides them with food, clothing, educational tutoring, and they learn about the love of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Daison Mbewe is leading this church and center. I recently received this email from him:
Work at church is progressing very well, I think at God’s speed. I told you about each member bringing one block per week. We have so far started the construction of a wall fence. If we progress at the same pace then we can finish it before June 2012. I will send you some pictures to show you how far we have gone. After securing this place with a wall fence then we can start other development projects at the church.
One cinder block equals about one day’s wage for these people. The church cannot afford to hire skilled laborers. So, they are purchasing it, bringing it, and building it.
Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, what God in his kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia. They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity. For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will. 2 Corinthians 8:1-3
